The updated guide features engaging activities that encourage kids to explore Sea Rim’s unique ecosystems, from coastal marshes to sandy shorelines. Through interactive games, wildlife education, and hands-on discovery, the guide aims to inspire curiosity, conservation and a love for the outdoors.

“I want to introduce kids to Nature Journaling on Page 1 of this guide. There, they can record personal observations along with the day’s weather and events, documenting their experience and even receiving the official park stamp! I’ve added a new shark page, inspired by park interpreter, Laura Neu’s, love for shark conservation!”

The project also introduces a custom-designed front cover featuring Sea Rim’s Gambusia Nature Trail and back cover designed to inspire families to turn their Day at the Beach into their very own Beach Clean Up! Artist, Callie Summerlin, endeavored to give the guide a vibrant, modern look that reflects the spirit of a Texas coastal park and its diverse wildlife.

“This reimagined activity guide is all about making nature accessible and exciting for kids,” said artist and producer, Callie Summerlin. “We want families to experience Sea Rim in a way that’s both educational and unforgettable. Let’s step away from our screens and step into the wild!”
Sea Rim State Park, known for its rich biodiversity and premier birdwatching opportunities, offers the perfect setting for young adventurers to learn about coastal habitats, native species and environmental stewardship.
The Sea Rim State Park Activity Guide for Kids will be available for free to visitors at the park and at the CVB, or you can download a digital copy or request a physical copy by mail at www.visitportarthurtx.com/visitor-guides/
