Fishing, Birding, Tent Camping and Picknicking

Located at the South end of Pleasure Island on Mesquite Point, Walter Umphrey State Park has a lighted fishing pier, boat launch, public restrooms and an RV park.  Facilities for tent camping and picnicking are also available.

This park is family friendly and a great place to view the Sabine Channel full of passing ships. The pier is a summertime favorite, where families gather long after dark to fish, eat and enjoy the warm breeze!

Bait and Snacks:

If you need a snack, drink or bait for fishing, you can visit the Causeway Bait, Tackle and Grill across the road.
