Showcasing some thousand works of art, including paintings, sculptures, folk art and photography, this museum in Beaumont’s Museum District exhibits masterpieces from notable artists, including hand–blown glass pieces by Dale Chihuly, as well as drawings by John Alexander and paintings by Paul Manes, both Beaumont natives.
Felix “Fox” Harris
One of the museum’s most popular collections is by Felix “Fox” Harris, a local, self-taught artist known as the “Voodoo Man.” Harris created totem pole–inspired sculptures out of scrap materials, saying he was following God’s directive to “make somethin’ out of nothing.”
Plan Your Visit
AMSET is open to the public 7 days a week with free admission, always. Stop for lunch at Two Magnolias or participate in Family Arts Day events offered four times a year. The museum also has a gift shop to buy souvenirs.
