PORT ARTHUR is The Power of Travel

The 38th Annual NTTW – May 2-8 – recognizes the POWER OF TRAVEL and the industry’s role in bringing back our vibrant communities, restoring the economy, rebuilding our workforce and reconnecting America.

This year, there is more reason than ever to celebrate the collective strength of the U.S. travel and tourism industry and its dynamic workforce.

Resiliency

The travel industry has been a powerful economic engine, supporting jobs and driving local economies. The industry experienced 107 straight months of growth and generated $2.6 trillion in economic output. Travel  supported 17 million American jobs and delivered a $51 billion trade surplus to America.

Travel spending declined during the pandemic’s early days by  42%, costing the economy $1.1 trillion. Hardworking Americans supported by travel made up a staggering 65% of all U.S. unemployment.

Port Arthur —and the travel industry—is resilient.

We are overcoming extraordinary challenges as our industry unites like never before. We are devoting ourselves to the task of supporting and restoring all travel sectors. This year’s NTTW is an opportunity to turn the page to a new chapter and celebrate its collective power. We are spotlighting the innumerable ways travel will drive recovery and bring Americans together again.

Time for Funshine

Here in Port Arthur, we are celebrating NTTW by BRINGING ON THE FUNSHINE! We are showing our appreciation to the hospitality industry by visiting hotels and CVB partners with inspirational presentations. We’re rolling out our new Regional Visitors Guide, celebrating National BBQ Month and Cinco de Mayo. And we are also interacting with our community through social media activations.

Visit Port Arthur

From the Museum of the Gulf Coast to Sea Rim State Park, our travel and tourism industry contributes much to our local economy and our community’s unique character. We at the Port Arthur Convention & Visitors Bureau are excited to share the full power of travel – and the strength and spirit of our city.
