5 Reasons to Visit Port Arthur, Texas this Summer!
Although it seems almost automatic to visit the Texas coast at least once during the warmer months, here’s 5 reasons we think you should visit Port Arthur this summer!
Reason #1 New Ways to Become One with Nature
Become one with nature by exploring the newest boardwalk at Sea Rim State Park’s Willow Pond, or if you’re really adventurous, plan a night of kayaking to your private camping spot atop a floating platform in the marsh unit. It’s a “primitive” experience, if you know what we mean, but your night above the water and under the stars will garner life long-bragging rights!
Reason # 2 The Flowers are Blooming at the Botanical Gardens. We even have flower festivals!
Port Arthur is home to beautiful botanical gardens. The flowers are blooming and there are plenty of events and festivals to experience at the Buu Mon Buddhism Temple, Shangri La Botanical Gardens & Nature Center, and Tyrrell Park. If you’re in town during the month of June, be sure to check out Buu Mons’s annual Garden Festival. There, you can stroll the tropical gardens and lily ponds, get an exclusive guided tour of the Temple and shrines, and enjoy Vietnamese food and cultural traditions.
Reason #3 Southeast Texas LOVES the 4th of July! #America
If you bleed red, white and blue this town is the place for you! Fireworks, BBQ and waterside picnics are a local favorite. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and sit back to enjoy live music, a fireworks display and great people watching. Visit our July 4th Calendar and pick the best party at the park, Sea Wall or in the City for you and your family!
Reason #4 Summer Birding and Fishing
By Mid-May most of the migratory birds have come and gone, making plenty of room for the summer pattern here on the upper Gulf Coast. This time of year is perfect for spotting native birds and wildlife. Your SETX summer check-list might include one of the many shore birds that call Port Arthur home. Pictured above is a crowd favorite: the Ruddy Turnstone. For all things Birding in Port Arthur,
Maybe birding isn’t your thing? Check out our list of Fishing Guides for a day of adventure on the water with a professional. You’re sure to catch your dinner and make lifelong memories on Sabine Lake.
