DESCRIPTION:Lamar State College-Port Arthur Celebrates July 4th\nMusic and ice cream make the holiday sweet. Family events will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Carl Parker Multipurpose Center on the campus of LSCPA\, 1800 Lakeshore Drive in Port Arthur. \nThe Aces Blues Band will perform live. Look for face painting\, a gaming truck and a balloon artist. Motiva will serve free ice cream while supplies last. \nThe event at the college is a lead-up to the annual fireworks over the canal show hosted by the City of Port Arthur. The fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. with plenty of room along the seawall adjacent to the college. Be sure to bring a lawn chair! \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Get a Taste!\nThe Rotary Club of Port Arthur will host its first Taste of Summer in Port Arthur.\nFor 34 years\, the Taste of Gumbo has provided scholarships to local high school students. This past year\, the group gifted more than $12\,000 to students in Port Arthur.\nThe group canceled the 2022  Taste of Gumbo due to an increase in pandemic numbers. But you know what they say about doors closing and windows opening!\nThis year our Taste of Summer will include food vendors of ALL types offering samples of their select dishes and beverages. But it doesn’t stop there! Look for  local vendors\, entertainment for kids including face painting and a Touch-a-Truck event\, door prizes\, a silent auction that has everything from outdoor grills to a boxing glove signed by Sugar Ray Leonard\, live music and a beer garden! Rollin’ Bones is set to play.\nTo be a vendor or support the cause\, call Monique Batson at (409) 540-3655 or Art Thomas at (512) 571-1941. The Port Arthur Rotary Club Foundation is a registered non-profit\, and all donations are tax-deductible.\nTickets are $10 at the gate.
