A (last minute) Holiday Gift Guide with the Traveler in Mind
Wanderlust is a whimsical word for the strong feeling or urge to travel. Whether you find yourself passing through town, or you’re looking for a special gift for your free-spirited, travel-minded friend, we’ve put together a list of great go-tos to help you with your Holiday Shopping.
Go Big. Two & Co Clothing is a great stop for classic, upscale European clothing and accessories. We are starting big with this custom Italian shirt. The words and art were authored here in Port Arthur by the store owner and her family, and it was subsequently made and printed in Italy. Ooh la la. We love the words. “Make Music. Art. Food. Clothing. Believe… Things.” We believe that travel is good for the soul, and this top is an inspired piece that will spark joy for any traveler looking for a minimal look with a punchy edge.
Snooze. The other choice Two & Co item is a White + Warren sleeping mask. This carefully curated mask is perfect for long plane rides and cozy naps in sunny hotel rooms. We can’t travel without ours, and it’s a small gift that will easily fit in any travel connoisseur’s carry-on.
Full of Joy. If there is one word that describes travel as a whole, it’s joy. This holiday sweater found a Gaudie & Co is a seasonal offering that works all year long. When traveling, it’s always good to pack a comfy pullover that layers well with button ups, scarves and overcoats. Whether lounging over a cup of coffee or off on an excursion abroad, this colorful sweater is sure to add to the joyful travel year ahead. The gift that keeps on giving.
Tag.. You’re it. Better safe than sorry (tag your bag!). Any traveler will get a kick out of TJ Maxx‘ surprisingly robust travel gear collection. If you scour the aisles, you will find many things you never knew you needed. Even though luggage tags are about as customary as it gets, orange and blue retro cassette tape tags are not. Sure, you may not find the exact ones when you go, but rest assured there are many options. The tags make a great gag / “no these are really cool actually” gift for your not-so-serious travel buddies.
Off the beaten path. Travel towels are good for the girls and guys who take adventure to the next level. Ditching the five star, amenity-laden vacation? These are great for your friends who are planning their next big adventure into the wild.
Bottoms up. Okay, we’re not talking about shot glasses unless you mean shot of espresso. We found these Mary Square coffee mugs at a nearby boutique, Baubles & Bliss. The florals are fresh and bright, and you cannot go wrong with a nice coffee mug. Bring it home to your sweetheart.
Blast from the Past. Janis Joplin is one of the most iconic, enduring, influential musicians in the history of rock n’ roll. She has been called “The Queen of Rock” and “The Queen of Psychedelic Soul.” Janis is from Port Arthur, and we are proud to keep her legendary life and music alive and well. The newest biography by Holly-George Warren is a great gift for music lovers of all ages. You can pick up a copy at the Museum of the Gulf Coast and we recommend throwing in a few tickets to the Museum, too.
Finders Keepers. If you’ve never perused the collections at the Flagship Mailroom Emporium in Port Arthur, you’re in for a real treat. There are so many oh-so-good Christmas gifts, it’s hard to choose just one. For the traveler, though, why not stow away a few travel essentials zip ups to throw into your suitcase? They are fresh and friendly and are great for wherever life takes you!
This “wraps up” our short list of last minute gift options for the traveler in all of us! Send home some Port Arthur love. Better yet, come back for more Port Arthur fun with friends and family in tow!
