Pleasure Island Bird Blind
Port Arthur’s Newest Birding Site
Welcome to Port Arthur’s newest birding site, just in time for spring migration. The blind overlooks a pond on the former Palms at Pleasure Island Golf Course. Enjoy quiet time with the birds on the new blind overlooking the waters. Sit secluded and keep an eye out for herons, alligators, turtles and local and migratory birds.
Directions: It’s easy to find on the north end of the Island from the base of the famous Pleasure Island water tower resembling a golf ball. Look for directional signs leading to walk trails, parking and the birding site.
Site Specs: Walking trails, covered bird blind, two benches and trash bins.
Be prepared: The mosquito population can be high, especially in wet years. Wear repellent. Be on the lookout for alligators on the banks and in the ponds.
