The Modern Age of Petroleum
The Beaumont Heritage Society, along with the Jefferson County Historical Commission, will host a public ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Spindletop oil boom and the unveiling of new interpretive panels at Spindletop Park. The panels highlight the people, moments, and innovations that launched the modern petroleum era and put Beaumont on the world stage.
The ceremony will feature brief remarks from local leaders and historian Judith Linsley, co-author of Giant Under the Hill. The interpretive panels will remain on display year-round and are free to the public.
