Sea Rim First Day Hike, Paddle
January 1 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Begin 2026 at Sea Rim State Park
How about a view of the Gulf to ring in the new year? Sea Rim State Park invites hikers to get in some fresh air, coastal views and exercise. Join staff and Sabine Neches chapter of Texas Master Naturalists from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the park. Learn about the sea creatures, birds and plants that live there.
Enjoy the sound of gulf waves and the smell of the salty air. We’ll share some area history and Sea Rim’s natural environment. This hike will be roughly a mile long round-trip. Walk at your own pace. The terrain on the beach is firm enough for most mobility devices, but uneven.
If a beach wheelchair is needed, call in advance.
Location: Start at the Water Refill Station
Bring: Water and shoes to walk on the beach
You do NOT need to register or make a reservation for this event, just be sure to purchase a day pass for everyone attending.
First Day Paddle
Boating is all about going with the flow, and we should, too! Join park rangers on a 1.8-mile (round trip) guided paddle of the salt marsh!
Register in advance for this event from 9 to 11 a.m.
The park has limited boats, so bring your own if you have one.
Try a Polar Plunge?
For the truly brave, come prepared to get wet. Join some of the rangers and Master Naturalists in a polar plunge, southeast Texas style!
This hike will be roughly a mile long round-trip. Walk at your own pace. The terrain on the beach is firm enough for most mobility devices, but uneven.
We Have to Have Black-Eyed Peas!
Try our Texas tradition: Enjoy a light snack black-eyed peas, cabbage, and cornbread to bring luck and good fortune in the new year!
