It’s GUMBO WEEK in the official CAJUN CAPITAL OF TEXAS!
Gumbo is Port Arthur’s love language. It’s cold outside cher, and it’s the season to experience the flavors of a favorite Cajun delicacy in Southeast Texas.
The inaugural Port Arthur Gumbo Week kicks off Saturday, Feb. 17, at Rotary Club of Port Arthur’s 44th Annual Taste of Gumbo, where restaurants and civic groups proudly cook up big pots of gumbo and serve samples as attendees pass a good time. Proceeds benefit many area charities.
Gumbo Week is an opportunity to showcase our Cajun heritage through promoting Port Arthur and Mid County restaurants that serve GUMBO. Participating in is easy. Taste of Gumbo requires tickets, but after that, just show up at some of these local businesses to get your bowl of goodness.
Restaurants are NOT asked to modify menus or offer discounts. The goal is to highlight the restaurants and kitchens that serve us what we want — be it dark or light roux over rice, chicken, sausage, shrimp, crab, you name it. Let’s celebrate the Holy Trinity of celery, bell peppers, onions.
