Rainbow Bridge
State Hwy 87, Port Arthur, TX 77642Completed in 1938, the Rainbow Bridge is among the tallest bridges on the Gulf Coast. It rises to a height of a 20-story building and clears the Neches river by 177 feet. This height was to accommodate the tallest naval ship at that time, but such a vessel never sailed through this passage.
Right beside the Rainbow Bridge is the Veterans Memorial Bridge. The first cable-stayed bridge built on a Texas highway, it offers 143 feet of navigational clearance. The Golden Triangle Veterans Memorial Park is at the base on the Port Arthur side.
