Celebrating the #FutureofTravel
Janis Joplin, fishing and birding are big draws for visitors and locals. They are hot topics for National Travel & Tourism Week. Port Arthur Convention & Visitors Bureau’s celebration honors tourism partners with an open house during the 39th annual NTTW, May 1-7, 2022.
Windows with a view
Valerie Simoneaux’s painted scenes on Robert A. “Bob” Bowers Civic Center windows are festive views. Scenes show Joplin, birding and fishing imagery. We share how we the city attractions. The Port Arthur Yacht Club brought in a sail boat. Museum of the Gulf Coast and Sea Rim State Park displayed information. The Ben J. Rogers Regional Visitors Bureau shared how they steer travelers to our assets.

Birding Tourism
First, there’s the birding. All year birding, really. Spring and fall migration makes the features really fly. Because we love those birds, we also create bird-friendly projects. Native plantings and lights out for migration are bird magnets. PACVB has migration displays in four area libraries. Thousands of warblers and other birds enter Port Arthur in spring. We are in via the Central and Mississippi flyways. Spring migration peak is April 19-May 7.
Film Friendly Texas
Secondly, we’re proud of a new designation. The Texas Film Commission certifies the city as a Film Friendly Texas community. The network connects industry professionals. Port Arthur is serious about attracting production.
Representing
Port Arthur CVB staff represents our attractions, hotels and restaurants. Staffers display at shows and festivals to attract visitors. Venues include: Houston Fishing Show, Texas Outdoor Writers Association and Ford Park Boat and Outdoor Show. We show off our stuff at birding festivals and home and leisure shows. We also have an excellent volunteer group.

Visit Port Arthur advertisements appear in digital and print campaigns including: We promote our attractions in Texas Highways Magazine, Houstonia Magazine and TourTexas.com. Scenic views are share din Birdwatcher’s Digest, Living Bird, Texas Fish&Game and Louisiana Life.
