DESCRIPTION:Join In\nPort Arthur Cultural Coalition has presented several 2026 Juneteenth activities honoring 161 years of freedom. \nThe 8th Annual Juneteenth Festival will wrap up this year’s activities. For details\, visit: www.pajuneteenth.com  \nPort Arthur’s Juneteenth events have honored 161 years of freedom. Events included a flag raising\, boxing\, a beauty pageant\, brunch\, a parade\, and a festival.  \nNFL linebacker and Super Bowl champion Elandon Roberts\, a Port Arthur native will be grand marshal of the parade on June 19. All major events are free and open to the public. \nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS\n\n\nSaturday\,  June 20 — 8th Annual Juneteenth Festival (Free) Sgt. Lucian Adams Park Softball\, vendors\, DJ Kenia & DJ Trill Phill \n\n\nDo you know the history? On the 19th of June\, 1865\, enslaved people in Texas learned the Emancipation Proclamation was signed long ago\, on Jan. 1\, 1863. Because of this\, they discovered they were supposed to have been freed. Texans historically observe this date with various cultural celebrations.
