Quilted in Texas history The Texas Department of Agriculture State Quilts will be at Museum of the Gulf Coast through June 10, 2016. An annual state-wide contest creates a themed quilt with individuals from around the state creating blocks with Texas-produced materials to showcase our state’s agriculture, history and artistic talent. Beachy, birdy and scenic blocks help tell the Lone Star State’s history in a “warming” way.
Museum of the Gulf Coast tells the region’s story from Jurassic to Joplin. Be sure to visit venues with sports greats and musical legends who have called this area home, including Jimmy Johnson, Janis Joplin, Tex Ritter and George Jones. Shells, glass and other collections are on display.
