NEDERLAND HERITAGE FESTIVAL
Dutch settlers developed Nederland for dairy land. A museum at the windmill in the middle of town helps tell that story. The festival boasts old-town charm with cobbled streets, costumed characters in the park and a carnival through Sunday, March 20 on Boston Avenue in Nederland.
A parade, including Patriot Guard Riders, will begin at 10 a.m. along Nederland Avenue at 21st Street to 112th Street to Boston Avenue. A gumbo cook off will follow.
As quaint as this festival has become, they’re high tech about the social media. When you photograph some fun goings on at the Nederland Heritage festival, give it the hashtag #cantgetenuff, based on NUFF, the NHF mascot in red overalls.
Be sure to hit the famous Cuisine Walk, featuring Port Arthur Little Theater’s Scotch Eggs, and other delicacies.
