Elite anglers prep for Mardi Gras

classictrophyreducedThe Elite Redfish Series will kick off with the Elite Redfish Series Classic as part of Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas. Professional anglers will hit the shores of Port Arthur, Texas from Feb. 24-26.

The pros and their marshals will head out each morning from the Pleasure Island RV Park ramp and return in the afternoon to the same location to have their fish inspected and measured prior to heading to the Mardi Gras grounds for the live weigh in, set to begin each day at 4 p.m.

When pros like local favorite Freddy Frederick roll into town there will be no mistaking he’s there to do serious business. Fishing for the top prize, a $75,000.00 package and promoting his sponsors will both be job one for this pro.

After two days of head-to-head competition without the assistance of a team mate or draw partners, Freddy and the other professionals in the field hope to be in the top five that will move on to fish on Sunday’s final day and all the marbles.

Once “The Fab 5” has been decided at Saturday afternoon’s weigh in they will be quickly whisked off stage via Mardi Gras officials to awaiting fully decorated Mid County Ram Trucks and boats ready to take part in the parade and extravaganza Saturday night. The Fab 5 will be pulled through the parade route and take part in all parade activities. It’s going to be a fabulous time and will make for another great television episode on the Elite Redfish Tournament and Television Series.

What a great way to mark the beginning of the 2017 tournament season. Pat Malone says he hopes you’ll make plans to join us, the pros, their marshals, families, friends and fans to experience a truly spectacular 3 days of Mardi Gras majesty.
